If your surf course cannot take place due to the current measures related to the Covid-19 pandemic, you can reschedule it for a later date or you will receive a full refund of the course fee from us.
If you feel like getting to know the sport of kitesurfing but want to keep all your options open, then the taster course is the right choice. In one day, we will teach you the practical basic elements and a lot of fundamental knowledge. Above all, you will get a feel for flying the kite and will quickly notice if you want to take the next steps. We recommend that you stay flexible and keep the next few days free. This way, you have the opportunity to extend your kite taster course as you wish and, for example, complete the full beginner course with us or continue directly at the kite camp.
Our proven training system is based on 8 skill levels (Steps). In your introductory course, you will reach Step 2 with us. The goal is to learn how to fly the kite in the air and on the water and to actively control it. Additionally, on your first day of kitesurfing, you will learn body dragging (see Step 2). Here is an overview of the individual steps:
**Step 1: Basics and Safety** In this step, you will first receive a safety briefing. Then, you will learn everything about wind detection and immediately move on to practically training and internalizing the theory and basics of kite control in the water* (kite flight area). You will become very familiar with the wind window. For the first flight exercises, we use the Sofkite Flysurfer Viron, which is a lot of fun even in lighter winds!
* In light wind conditions, Step 1 takes place on land.
**Step 2: Flight School, Relaunch, and Body Drag** Now you will practice controlled power buildup with the kite. This is followed by training for controlled active launching, flying, and landing of the kite in the water. Additionally, you will learn to independently relaunch the kite from the water. During body dragging, a pull generated by the wind on the kite, you will create active power and let yourself be pulled across the water by your kite (without a board).
After your introductory kite course, you will have gained initial experience in safely launching, flying, and landing the kite. Your practical skills will include setting up the kite, flying it safely, and body dragging. This gives you the best foundation to continue with kitesurfing!
The area is characterized by its standing depth and flat water surface, as the sheltered location hardly generates any waves. Additionally, the Salzhaff consists of freshwater, making it more pleasant to learn kitesurfing compared to saltwater.
All our kitesurfing courses take place in the VDWS buddy system. This means that a maximum of four kiters are taught per instructor. Two kite students each pair up as buddies on one kite, take turns flying the kite, support each other, and thus allow for welcome breaks in between.
We will fully equip you with the appropriate surfing equipment (kite umbrella, board, harness, wetsuit and boots). You simply pack your bathing suit and a large towel.
The training equipment from our material pool is covered by the kitesurfing school. We accept material damage caused by us during training as a gesture of goodwill. If surfing equipment and equipment is lost, the course participant is liable.
We recommend that you also cover kitesurfing with your liability insurance in the future. The VDWS offers the so-called SafetyTool (39€/year), including comprehensive protection for rental equipment worldwide, as well as liability and accident protection.
Our trained, VDWS-licensed kite instructors teach you kiting efficiently, and we only go on the water when the wind conditions are suitable. If that is not the case, we use the time to clarify theoretical questions that have arisen during the course. Additionally, we playfully and in groups impart knowledge that will not only simplify practical exercises but also prepare you for the VDWS license exam.
Our wind guarantee: Unused hours on the water can be rescheduled for a new appointment or credited towards your next kite course or kite camp. This way, we promote fast and safe learning, and you can make the most of your water time.
By the way: If needed, we use a motorboat to provide you with optimal training conditions in any wind direction.
The VDWS Kitesurfing Licence is an internationally recognized license. It documents your current kitesurfing level. With a license, you can rent equipment worldwide and kite at spots where a kite license is mandatory.
VDWS License (including preparation, exam, and kiteboarding license): €40
VDWS Kiteboarding Work- and Stylebook: €15
There is no clear age limit for kitesurfing, as children develop very differently both physically and mentally during this stage of life. Your child should be able to concentrate and engage in sports for an hour. In general, we recommend a minimum age of 15 years and a minimum weight of 55 kg. For younger children who want to learn kitesurfing, we offer private kitesurfing lessons. Important: If you are under 18 years old and traveling without your parents, please bring an informal consent form from your parents.
We recommend that you pack a water bottle and a small snack (for example, a bar) for some energy. On-site at the campsite, you can relax after your training at the fish stand with the most delicious smoked fish and cool drinks right by the water, dine at the beautiful Seaside Pepelow restaurant with a view of the lagoon, or visit the beach bar (small snacks, coffee, and cocktails) in the San Pepelone holiday village. You can find super delicious soft ice cream from Ilka Eis directly opposite the surf school, as well as a small supermarket for your daily needs.
A surfing voucher is a brilliant gift idea, as a surfing course is a special experience with a high fun factor amidst nature and its elements. Of course, the voucher can also be booked for two people or for a group. You can choose between a course voucher and a value voucher.
In our kite surfing school, for example, there is no “supervised kiting” without a kite instructor standing by your side, helping you and watching you on the water. With us, booking a kite course or a kite camp means: Real lessons with experienced instructors and all surfing equipment included!
